Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required operate a skid steer loader to load, haul and distribute materials.
This unit applies to those working in site based roles.
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced from state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.
This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisting someone who has completed RIIHAN308F Load and unload plant or equivalent.

- Plan and prepare for skid steer loader operations
- Operate skid steer in line with established requirements
- Load, carry and place materials to complete work activity
- Select, remove, fit and use attachments for a skid steer loader
- Prepare to relocate the skid steer loader
- Conduct housekeeping activities
Course Outline
- OHS and legislative obligations
- Identify work requirements, procedures and instructions
- Plan and prepare for skid steer loader operations
- Conduct skid steer loader pre-operational checks
- Operate skid steer loader
- Attach, secure, lift, carry and place materials
- Select, remove and fit attachments
- Relocate the skid steer loader
- Carry out machine operator maintenance
- Clean-up work area
Pre-requisite For This Course
- Provide 100 Points of identification (as per Workplace Health and Safety Queensland requirements)
- Ability to read, write & understand English
What to Bring
- Provide 100 Points of identification (as per Workplace Health and Safety Queensland requirements)
- Steel cap Boots
- Safety gloves
- Hi-Visibility shirt and hard hat with a brim
- Suitable outdoor work clothing (no singlets)
- Lunch and water bottle
- If applicable, any evidence of prior experience e.g old certificates
- USI Number (Find My USI)
Additional Information
Course days typically run from 6.30am to approximately 3.00pm - Participants are advised to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.
*You may be required to start before 6.30am and stay after 3.00pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for, we will advise of these times on the day of formal assessment.
