Course Overview
Our RIIHAN301E training course covers the operation of a boom-type elevating work platform under 11m and scissor lift.
The boom and scissor lift training units describe a participant’s skill and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform in a variety of industries. The units are appropriate for those working in operational roles.
This is a 2-day intensive training and assessment course. Participants will attend on all 2 days to complete theory, practical training and student will be formally assessed for theory and practical assessments with our qualified trainer and assessor on day 2. On successful completion of this course, participants will attain RIIHAN301E competency.
This course option is suitable for participants without access to a workplace to gain experience, or workplaces who don’t have the resources to supervise staff while gaining nominal hours. If at any time during these 2 days the assessor recognises the need for the participant to complete gap training, participants will be given their logbook to gain nominal hours in the workplace prior to attending an assessment.
On successful completion of this course, participants will be attain RIIHAN301E - competency. There are costs associated with applying for the licence. Please visit www.worksafe.qld.gov.au for current licence fees.
Application
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform at any height.
This unit applies to those working in operational roles.
The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work, but this unit does not provide the licence. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements that may apply to this unit can vary between states, territories and industry sectors, and must be sourced prior to applying this unit.
This unit alone does not provide sufficient skill to independently load and unload equipment. To perform this activity safely, personnel must either complete or be assisted by someone who has completed RIIHAN308F - Load and Unload Plant or equivalent.

Performance Criteria
Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in the applicable units. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:
- Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of operating elevating work platforms
- Works effectively with others to undertake and complete the operation of elevating work platforms that meet all of the required outcomes
- Demonstrates completion of operating elevating work platforms that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion

- Provide 100 Points of identification (as per Workplace Health and Safety Queensland requirements)
- Ability to read, write & understand English

- Steel cap Boots
- Safety gloves
- Hi-Visibility shirt and hard hat with a brim
- Suitable outdoor work clothing (no singlets)
- Lunch and water bottle
- If applicable, any evidence of prior experience e.g old certificates
- USI Number (Find My USI)
Additional Information
Course Timing:Course days typically run from 6:30am to approximately 3:00pm - Participants are advised to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.
*You may be required to start before 6:30am and stay after 3:00pm depending on how long the formal assessment runs for, we will advise of these times on the day of formal assessment.

4 Things to Consider when Operating a Crawler Crane
