Civil Infrastructure commitments are at a decade high across Queensland with $16.3 billion outstanding
According to the most recent Master Builders ‘Building & Construction Queensland June 2022’ report, as of March 2022, over $16.3 billion worth of committed works in civil construction is yet to be completed across the state.
Construction Skills Queensland’s ‘Industry Outlook 2021-2022’ reported that infrastructure commitments are at a decade high, with outstanding engineering work for government projects alone accounting for $7 billion in the preceding year (Mar21). At the time it accounted for two-thirds of that total, demonstrating the recent increase in the pipeline of new announcements in just a year, which according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics was almost $11.3 billion (as of March 2022). 75% of that total is for roads, highways, sub-divisions, bridges, railways and harbours.
If you drive through the ‘Pacific Motorway M1 Varsity Lakes to Tugun upgrade’ you’ll pass somewhere in the region of 28 excavators working right now (July 2022), moving earth to pave the way for easing congestion to and from the border.
Much of these public infrastructure projects just happen to be where ‘On the Job Training’ resides, in South East Queensland centrally at Stapylton, where the Gold Coast meets Brisbane near the end of the Logan Motorway.
Which is why we’ve been investing heavily in new civil construction equipment of late. We now own a skid steer, roller, telescopic handler and an excavator. With this ‘decade high infrastructure commitment’, there’s no better time to be competent in these machines that are integral to civil construction.
With CSQ funding available for eligible students with no out of pocket expense, we run courses in these machines weekly and adding ‘Civil Saturdays’ to our schedule from August 2022. Or if you want to get into construction, then we can offer a multi-civil combo discount deal on more than one course. Call us 07 3807 6061 or send us an enquiry below to book your spot now!
