Dogging and Rigging Courses

If you’re seeking employment in the construction industry under WHS legislation, obtaining a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) at the appropriate level for your state is essential.

Our Dogging and Rigging courses cover a broad range of skills, including slinging loads, directing crane operations, and working with precast concrete panels, structural steel, cranes, conveyors, tower erection, span lines, flying foxes, and swing stages.

We offer the following training opportunities:

Gain the practical skills and certification required to work safely and effectively in high-risk construction environments.

What Is Dogging and Rigging?

Dogging involves the selection and inspection of lifting gear, slinging loads, and directing crane movements where the operator’s view is limited or obstructed. Doggers communicate using hand signals, whistles, or radios to ensure safe and efficient load handling.

Rigging involves the use of mechanical load-shifting equipment to move, place, or secure loads. Riggers are responsible for maintaining structural stability and are often involved in the assembly and disassembly of cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment.

Our Dogging and Rigging courses are nationally accredited training units that lead to a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL). These courses are ideal for individuals pursuing careers in construction, mining, and infrastructure, and focus on essential load handling and rigging skills.

Available Units:

  • CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to Perform Dogging

  • CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to Perform Rigging – Basic Level

  • CPCCLRG3002 – Licence to Perform Rigging – Intermediate Level

  • CPCCLRG4001 – Licence to Perform Rigging – Advanced Level

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and may apply for the corresponding HRWL through Workplace Health and Safety QLD.

Each level builds upon the previous, with Basic Rigging as a prerequisite for Intermediate, and Intermediate for Advanced. Dogging is a prerequisite for all rigging levels.

Please refer our blog to understand the difference between all levels of Dogging and Rigging.

Dogging, basic and intermediate rigging courses are scheduled every week with regular night courses.

Advanced rigging courses tend to be scheduled twice a year based on demand.
